NASA recently released imagery showing the deforestation of America, in just 34 years.

this is why the earth is attacking us.
she’s fighting back her time we’re just borrowing it.

Saw this picture on imgur and just had to post it here, because this is without a doubt, one of the most badass women alive. Meet Katrina Hodge, a corporal in the British Army and Miss England 2009. According to Wikipedia, she enlisted back in 2004 after her brother challenged her to and earned the nickname “Combat Barbie” after showing up at her assigned unit wearing false eyelashes, kitten heels (whatever those are) and carry a pink suitcase. In 2005 her unit, the Royal Anglian Regiment, was deployed to Iraq, where she saved the lives of her comrades from a prisoner by wrestling not one, but two rifles from him and then knocking his ass out with her bare hands.
With her bare hands.
Then in 2009, she decided to compete in the Miss England competition to destroy stereotypes about women in the military. She didn’t win (she placed runner-up), but still became Miss England after the woman who did got into a fight and gave up the crown. While Miss England, Hodge convinced the people running the competition to ditch the bikini contest, because she felt that it was more important to be a role model than looking good in a bikini.
In 2010, she handed over the crown and returned to military service, being deployed to Afghanistan.
This woman is both a BAMF and a HBIC. Damn.

My favorite part about this is the expression on her face.
Like, homegirl knows.

BAMF. Go ahead Santorum, tell her how she has no business being in the military. I fucking dare you.

Wrong country and military, my dear. :p

Text 16 Jan Just because the economy fell doesn’t mean your parenting should’ve!

It is said very often that my generation, 90’s children, have become an entitled group of miscreants.  Allow me to be the voice of a significant chunk of the generation for a short moment.  When I was young like many people my parents had “good credit” the economy was booming, when I asked for something chances were I was going to get it.  As time went on and the “typical” toys became more expensive and more advanced I was still cared for.  I was spoiled I can admit it then, the economy dropped and I was cut off.  Vacations ended, no handheld games, no new tv and I didn’t understand.  Immediately the world, the rules the lifestyle changed.  There was no explanation just, “things are different now.”  As I grew up, because I was never informed as to why things changed the simple act of asking for things I once thought of as normal became stress inducing fights and screaming matches because my parents found it hard to be honest with me that they were stressed.  I became the punching bag for their frustrations I was suddenly an ungrateful person who didn’t appreciate anything because I “didn’t know the value of a dollar.”  this attitude spilled over into every aspect of my life.  I felt worthless until one day I realized, “If I’m ungrateful it’s a direct result of you’re condescending attitude and neglectful parenting style while you were to busy worrying about you worth in dollars.”  So for those reading this remember if you found yourself in this situation love the person anyway the anger was misplaced.
